2010 Bachata Championships Rules Released
Stevens Steak House will try its best to give the Bachata community in Los Angeles an exciting and fair competition that will hopefully boost the dance even more in the years to come! This will be the first Bachata Championships held at Stevens and will become an ongoing event to look forward to year after year!
STEVENS STEAK HOUSE BACHATA COMPETITION RULES:
PLEASE NOTE: Failure to comply with any of the following rules will result in disqualification from the competition.
- It is a "single couples" competition (no multiple couples).
- You may not change partners once qualified.
- Song length limit is a minimum of: 2:15 and a maximum of: 2:30 for all rounds.
- Props may be used (with permission by Stevens and organizers, contact organizers to fully disclose what the props will be - undisclosed props are grounds for disqualification)
- 80% of any music mix must be Bachata music.
- Out-of-state couples may compete on Finals night.
- Elaborated routines must be recognizable Bachata dancing.
- Limit of 4 tricks (maximum) per routine.
"Trick" definition: any acrobatic or 'out-of-the-ordinary' movement performed in the choreography that leads away from regular and recognizable "Bachata" dancing (Examples: splits, aerials, lifts, gymnastics, etc).
- Both feet of one or both of the dancers leave the ground simultaneously, or
- Acrobatics are required to achieve the end-result of the desired move.
- Exception: any accentuated dance "dip" where one or both feet of the person being dipped do not leave the ground.
All judges will also be required to strictly abide by these rules when grading the competition. Personal takes on dancing styles will not be welcomed from judges, as Stevens Steak House is truly striving to give Los Angeles a fair competition. Competitors may feel confident that we want you to feel well-treated in this competition.
